The SameSky way
You are reading this presumably because you are interested in improving your language skills, which already sets you apart from the average Brit! Whatever your main reason for wanting to learn - business, pleasure or pub-quiz smugness - we aim to make your learning experience meaningful, enjoyable, fruitful.

Would you rather join a group or take one-to-one lessons? Both are possible.
Established in 2015, our sweet-spot has become teaching foreign languages to adults who want to join a group of like-minded people to improve their language skills. Our classes are welcoming and sociable, and students often develop extra contact outside of lesson time, either on language-based WhatsApp groups or in the local coffee shop or pub.

No such thing as a complete beginner!
If you take up a language as an adult, you might be surprised how many words you already know, either from your knowledge of other languages (and foreign words in English) or from travelling and meeting people. Our job is to help you fill in the gaps and gradually turn single utterances into full sentences. A bit less Tarzan-like...
Intermediate/advanced learner
What is your main focus?
So you can hold a basic conversation, but would like to take your skills to the next level? You've come to the right place. We make sure that we put you in a class where you will be comfortable with the level. Most people really want to improve their speaking skills, first and foremost, but if grammar is your thing, then our teachers are happy to set and mark extra homework. Not compulsory, no detentions for failure to complete!
The rich get richer
As you will know from your own foreign holiday experience, a little knowledge backed up with a bit of effort and a big smile can go a very long way. It is up to you how much of this extra effort you put in. There are no magic short-cuts to learning a language, but there are techniques we can help you with, in order to maximise the finite amounts of time you have available.

Andrew Wenger
Founder of SameSky Languages, Andrew teaches French, German, Spanish and Japanese. He has a first degree in Modern Foreign Languages from the University of Nottingham and PGCE. He also has qualifications in English teaching (Business TEFL and CELTA)Â and is DELTA trained. He has studied or worked in Germany, Spain, Japan, Sweden but reckons that he has spent as much time in France as anywhere.
Gabriele Galli
Gabriele is a native of Bologna, but has spent most of the last decade in Windsor, where he has built a successful and respected Italian-teaching business. We are delighted to be in partnership with Gabriele, a true Italian gentleman with a big voice, big intellect and a big heart!

Emmy Wu
Emmy hails from Guangzhou, southern China, where she gained her impressive list of qualifications. She has rich experience teaching both English to her compatriots and now Mandarin here in the UK. As befits someone from the land of ground-breaking electronics, Emmy is highly skilled in the technological side of the education business.

If there was a silver lining to the covid era, it was that it made us all a bit more tech savvy. Using Zoom appeared to be the sub-optimal fall-back option at first, but now there are many students who actually prefer it. Being able to keep the classes going during the pandemic, and even being able to put on some extra online events definitely brought us closer together as a community. We are proud of this, and try to have an in-person event at the beginning and/or end of every term.

Flying high with SameSky !
Learning Spanish has been a real highlight of my year. Andrew brings the language to life, his lessons are animated, fun and interactive. His knowledge and passion for languages really shines through and it is highly infectious. Since March, his lessons have gone on zoom which has really suited me, and the hour just flies past and are really enjoyable. I have learnt so much! He also has created a language community with free evening talks - QUILTS - 'quite interesting little talks' on a variety of different subjects - something for everyone!

What can I say about this course other than "Fantastic". I love it. To begin with, Andrew, our tutor is amazing, so helpful, good sense of humour, and so encouraging, and in a relatively short time I have learnt so much, about so much, and cannot wait to return to Spain so I can communicate a lot more with the locals in their own language.

I have been attending the Advanced French Class for the last two years in Hertford and now via Zoom during Covid. I can honestly say it is one of the highlights of my week. The subject matter pulled together by Andrew is current and we not only learn but converse and debate in French. Love Mondays!
​I started learning German from scratch with SameSky in spring 2019 with some one-to-one lessons with Andrew which were enjoyable, inspiring and challenging - I made more progress than I could ever have imagined. I'm now taking part in Andrew's Zoom intermediate German lessons which are a high point of the week and I enjoy the interaction with the rest of the class. I particularly love the extra nuggets of knowledge Andrew gives us, such as examples of Martin Luther's influence on the German language. Would definitely recommend SameSky to anyone learning a new language or brushing up on existing skills.

We have really enjoyed having Andrew as our weekly Spanish teacher in the London business. We have many enthusiastic Spanish speakers of different levels in the company, and Andrew has been so flexible and adaptable to our varying needs and schedules (including last minute re-scheduling requests!). I have been attending an Advanced French Class in Hertford with SameSky since 2018. Andrew's lessons are always well researched and prepared using a variety of resources. We are encouraged to keep up to date with current affairs in France and to make suggestions for subjects which interest us, both historical and contemporary. Andrew's in depth knowledge of French language and grammar as well as his sense of humour always leave me feeling I have had both an enjoyable and profitable lesson. During the pandemic the class has continued on line which has been a great boon and something to look forward to.
